Midjourney Prompts: A Visual Prompt Library for Every Use Case

Midjourney produces some of the highest-quality AI-generated images available — but prompt quality is the single biggest determinant of output quality. The difference between a mediocre first-attempt image and a polished, professional result almost always comes down to how well the prompt communicates the visual intent.

Who this cluster is for

This cluster is for brand designers, product marketers, social media managers, content creators, ecommerce operators, and anyone who uses Midjourney for professional visual output. The prompts here are organized around real use cases — not abstract art experiments — and are built to produce images you can actually use in a business context.

How Midjourney reads your prompts

Midjourney processes text by mapping words to visual concepts from its training data. Words early in the prompt carry more weight than words late in the prompt. Concrete visual descriptions produce more predictable results than abstract emotional ones. The model responds especially well to visual vocabulary: lighting terms, photography styles, composition instructions, and art direction references.

The most reliable prompts combine: (1) a specific subject with real detail, (2) a visual style or medium, (3) a lighting direction, (4) a composition or camera perspective, (5) quality flags like the aspect ratio and version parameter. You don't need all five every time, but each element you add narrows the output and makes it more predictable.

Midjourney prompt structure tips

For product photography, always specify the surface (dark stone, white marble, wood grain, concrete), the lighting (soft box, rim lighting, natural window light), and a camera lens style. These three elements alone produce dramatically more consistent commercial photography results.

The --style raw flag often produces more realistic photographic output — use it for product shots and portraits. The default stylization adds artistic processing that works well for illustrations but can make photography look less natural.

The --ar flag controls the aspect ratio. Use 1:1 for Instagram squares, 4:5 for Instagram portrait, 16:9 for website banners and YouTube thumbnails, and 2:3 for print and packaging concepts.
